With recent changes in Vermont Legislation and insurance, it is now possible for families to receive Applied Behavioral Services and Early Intervention through their private insurance, or through Medicaid. Seeds of Change is designed to bill private insurance and Medicaid in order provide the needed treatment and ABA therapy to young children with an Autism spectrum diagnosis. Seeds of Change is a center for children--age of diagnosis through age six-- to receive training and support. Seeds of Change strives to help prepare children with autism and their families, for a successful school experience by creating a supportive and nurturing preschool experience, while teaching children new skills using ABA based strategies and support. Service Seeds of Change offers.... Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Applied Behavior Analysis or ABA is the science dedicated to the understanding and improvement of socially significant behavior. ABA is based on principles of reinforcement and is data driven. ABA became more widely known in the 1980's when the first studies with positive outcomes for effective treatment for children with autism were conducted. However, ABA had been around since the 1960's in many different fields, but especially in Education and Mental Health. In 2009, the National Autism Center released national standards for best practices, for people with autism which includes many behavioral treatments, including Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention. Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention: Recent studies show that for the best outcomes for children with Autism children must be engaged in treatment for 30 to 40 hours per week. At Seeds of Change, children will be provided up to 32 hours of center based services. Depending on the individual needs of the of the child, services will include a skill building program for communication, social and adaptive skills; a behavior support plan to increase self-regulatory skills and mediate challenging behaviors; as well as a combination of group and 1:1 instruction. Each child's program is overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and is implemented by skilled and experienced Behavior Instructors. Discrete Trial Instruction, Verbal Behavior Strategies, and Natural Environment teaching strategies may be a part of each child's treatment at the center. Services in the home will be based on individual needs and staff availability. Parent Training According to recent studies and our experience, parent training is paramount to a child's success. Our mission is to help families and caregivers feel empowered to be able to teach their children skills and manage their behavior successfully. At the center, parent training, observation, and coaching will be offered to parents and caregivers. |
