Types of Services:
- Applied Behavior Analysis or ABA is the science dedicated to the understanding and improvement of socially significant behavior. ABA is data driven and based on principles of reinforcement. ABA became more widely known in the 1980's when the first studies with positive outcomes for effective treatment for children with autism were conducted. ABA has been around since the 1960's in many different fields, but especially in education and Mental Health.
- School-Wide Behavior Supports: GMBC collaborates with several school districts in the State of Vermont. We have Behavior Interventionists in the schools working 1:1 with students, as well as collaborating with classroom teachers and special educators. We work on behavioral goals as well as helping students academically and socially.
- Training: Our BCBA's and BCABA's provide weekly supervision, training and feedback to our Registered Behavior Technicians and Behavior Interventionists. We also conduct several company-wide trainings throughout the year to keep our team up to date on ABA techniques. Our entire staff is trained in Handle with Care.
- Assessments: Upon request, our BCBA's and BCaBA's conduct Functional Behavioral Analysis (FBA's) to determine the function of a client's behavior. The Positive Behavior Support Plan (BSP) is created based on this assessment. Each BSP is created with the specific client's needs in mind. The BCBA's and BCaBA's collect and analyze data, as well as conduct ongoing assessments to provide the best treatment plans for clients.
- Adult Services: GMBC has collaborated with Washington County Mental Health Services to provide adult services to our clients who have aged-out of school based services. We work on community based skills, life skills, and provide job coaching. Our goal is to help our adults maintain jobs, be active members of their communities and be as independent as possible.
- Direct Staffing: GMBC provides direct staffing for clients with the supervision of BCBA's and BCaBA's. Direct staffing includes services for special education and school programs. Staff is placed in sufficient teacher-to-student ratios to implement behavior support and learning/teaching procedures in numerous settings (school, home and community) for the clients .
- Early Intervention Center: GMBC recently opened up Seeds of Change Center for Early Intervention--a clinic that provides ABA services, while also simulating a pre-school environment for children--from the age they are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, through the age of six. Seeds of Change provides 1:1 work with the students, while also incorporating group time to encourage social interactions. Seeds of Change Center for Early Intervention strives improve each child's autism diagnosis so that they are ready for a smooth transition to kindergarten.
